About Us

The Community Nursery is a family-owned tree farm rooted in Lebanon, Indiana, and built on a lifelong love of trees and community. Owner Doug Wells, a lifelong Lebanon resident, has been planting and caring for trees for decades. He and his son Chris planted their first crop together in 1992, and Doug established the nursery at its current location in 2006. Now retired, Doug continues to tend the nursery every day as a labor of love and as a way to work alongside his son.

As Lebanon grows and welcomes new families, The Community Nursery is here to help homeowners put down roots of their own. We specialize in mid-sized trees that offer immediate impact without the long wait, making them a practical and affordable choice for today’s landscapes.

Our nursery offers a thoughtful selection of flowering, ornamental, and shade trees, including a wide variety of maples, which is one of the most popular choices in our area. Customers are welcome to visit in person to choose their trees or browse available options online.

We offer free local delivery with tree purchases. Tree installation is available in most cases for an additional charge.

The name “The Community Nursery” reflects what matters most to us. This business has never been about one person. It’s about contributing to a growing community and helping people create spaces that feel like home.
